After the birth of my son nearly 5 years ago, I felt a powerful inspiration to know how to better care for myself and my family. I did a wonderful year long study of Ayurvedic Medicine, through California College of Ayurveda. My wisdom and interest in nutrition blossomed into a new understanding of food. One of my greatest pleasures in life is understanding how to create better health and to use food as medicine.
As my passion for health and wholesome foods continued to grow, I had the pleasure of finding Juicey Lucy’s. Their juice stand at the farmers' market immediately called to me. It was bursting with life, energy and wholesome fresh foods and the divine smell of fresh-pressed juice. I wanted to give my own energy to what Juicey Lucy’s has created for nearly 20 years. Over the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Juicey Lucy’s owner, Lisa Bach. I felt a great connection to her passion and intention to not only live a life promoting health, but also giving it to others.
As an Ayurvedic Health Educator, I am working with Juicey Lucy’s to deepen the meaning of what has become a social trend: The Cleanse. I believe cleansing is not an opportunity to quickly lose weight, counteract bad eating habits or redeem oneself after a binge of unhealthy consumptions. Cleansing can be a starting point. Cleansing can be a wonderful enhancement to a consistently conscious diet. Cleansing can help us heal.
Ask yourself this simple question: Why do I want to cleanse and what purpose would it serve me? Let your answer guide you to a deeper understand of yourself. If you recognize that your digestion is weak, your metabolism sluggish or you battle chronic colds – whatever it may be – just know that this is a place within your life that is inviting you to learn and heal. Part of my job at Juicey Lucy’s is to help you not just cleanse for a day, but to open your understanding to how everyday you can change the way you feel with what you eat and drink.
With Best Regards to Your Health and Happiness!

This week, we are so excited about Key Limes! Let me tell you why...
The sour taste, of key lime, encourages the stomach to secrete digestive enzymes, which in turn promotes more optimal digestion of the foods we eat. At the basis of good health, proper digestion is essential. Even if we are eating a nutrient rich diet, our digestion needs to be strong in order to break down nutrients and utilize them. Juicing offers the unique ability to not only give our digestion a break, it also works to improve it greatly by alkalizing the stomach.
In addition to promoting good digestion, key limes contain a unique flavonoid compound full of antioxidants. One of the most essential antioxidants, Vitamin C is abundant in these little fruits. We all know the hoot about vitamin C, but really why is it so important? Vitamin C travels through the body, neutralizing free radicals, which can threaten healthy cell growth. In other words key limes do a lot of good besides just adding a twist to your juice!

1) Tomato juice
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which boosts the immune system, prevents blood clots, and reduces inflammation. Fresh pressed tomato juice makes it easier to consume a higher quantity of this daily essential antioxidant compound, lypscene. Add a teaspoon of flax oil to your juice to aid with the absorption of lycopene.
2) Beet Juice
Beetroot is highly concentrated with nitrates that the body converts into nitric oxide, which is a compound that works to stimulate blood flow. The nutrients within beetroots are most abundantly available in the form of fresh pressed juice. Drinking a single 16 ounces of beet juice a day can significantly benefit health.
3) Pomegranate juice
Pomegranate juice is full of antioxidants. It boosts the immune system, reduces blood pressure and improves cardiovascular health. Research has shown that pomegranate juice increases testosterone, which is essential, in both men and women, for creating a healthy sex drive. Testosterone also reduces stress and improves overall mood.
4) Carrot Juice
Carrot juice is known for beta-carotene which gives the body Vitamin A, B Vitamins, Vitamin E and many minerals. Creating a carrot juice habit will strengthen eyesight, bones and teeth, liver and nails, skin and hair.
5) Cucumber Juice
Cucumber juice helps to flush out toxins, cool the body, aids digestion and contributes to weight loss. Plus it's phenomenal for your skin!
Always opt for Fresh Raw Juice!
If you aren't juicing it yourself make sure the juice you are drinking is fresh pressed so that you are taking in the optimal dose of nutrients and getting the full benefits of your juice.
The key to a successful juice habit is consistency. To get the real benefits, you have to stick with it! True health is an accumulation of good habits and it stems from the relationship you build with yourself. At Juicey Lucy's, we believe that you are worth it! We want to support you in your efforts towards your health!
